Why use this

Why extract images from a PDF?

PDFs are great for distributing polished documents but terrible for working with the content inside them. If a client sends you a PDF with diagrams, charts, or photos you need to use elsewhere, you cannot simply copy and paste them out. Extracting each page as a PNG gives you actual image files you can edit, resize, or drop into any project without restrictions.

Presentations are one of the most common use cases. Pulling a specific page from a PDF report into a slide deck takes seconds once you have the image. The same logic applies to using PDF pages as social media graphics, blog post visuals, or document thumbnails. A PDF is not accepted everywhere an image is, and this tool bridges that gap.

Developers and content teams regularly need PDF content in contexts that only accept image files. Online article editors, social media schedulers, and CMS platforms cannot handle a PDF attachment but will happily accept a PNG. Converting specific pages fills that gap without needing any installed software.

Set the scale to 2x for sharp screen output. Use 3x if you plan to print or display the extracted image at large sizes. Higher scale means a larger file and a slightly longer render time per page.

How it works

Extract PDF pages in three steps

PDF rendering uses PDF.js from Mozilla on your device. Your files are processed securely and stay private.

1

Upload your PDF

Select or drag your PDF file into the tool. The total number of pages is detected and shown automatically.

2

Set the resolution scale

Choose a scale factor. 1x gives screen-resolution output. 2x is sharper and recommended for most uses. 3x is best for print-quality output.

3

Download page images

Each page renders as a separate PNG file. Download whichever pages you need with a single click per page.

Tips for better PDF-to-image results

Use 2x scale for general use

2x produces PNG files that look sharp on high-DPI displays and work well for most print applications. 1x can look soft on modern retina screens.

Extract only the pages you need

You do not need to download every page. Pick only the ones relevant to your project to avoid a cluttered downloads folder.

Large PDFs need patience

Each page is rendered on an HTML canvas element in the browser, which is CPU-intensive. A 20-page high-resolution PDF may take 30 to 60 seconds to fully process.

Check text clarity at your chosen scale

Small text in the PDF may look blurry at 1x. If the extracted image has hard-to-read text, re-extract at 2x or 3x for noticeably better results.

Password-protected PDFs will not load

The browser cannot access encrypted PDF content without the correct password. Remove password protection from the PDF first, then use this tool.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What scale should I use?

2x gives sharp results suitable for most purposes including screen use and basic print. Use 3x for high-resolution printing or when you need to display the image at very large sizes.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?

Not currently. The browser PDF renderer cannot access encrypted content. Remove the password protection from the PDF first, then open it here.

Why is rendering slow on large PDFs?

Each page is drawn onto an HTML5 canvas element in the browser. This is CPU-intensive work. A multi-page PDF at high scale can take a minute or more to fully process.

Is my PDF private and secure?

Yes. The rendering uses PDF.js, the trusted open-source library from Mozilla. Your files are processed securely and stay private.
