Why use this

Why watermark your images?

When you share images online, they get downloaded, re-shared, and reposted constantly. Without attribution, the original creator is often unknown within a few hops. A watermark embeds your name, website, or brand directly into the image so that wherever it goes, credit follows.

For photographers and visual artists who share work on social media, blogs, or portfolio sites, a watermark is a practical deterrent against unauthorized commercial use. It does not make images perfectly secure, but it raises the effort required for misuse and makes the ownership clear to anyone who encounters the image.

Brand watermarks also reinforce awareness. When your images are shared widely, every view is a reminder of who created them. Watermarks in the corner or across less critical areas of the image can be subtle enough to be unobtrusive while still identifying the source.

Place watermarks strategically over areas that would be difficult to crop out without ruining the image. A corner watermark is easy to remove; one placed over the main subject is much harder to eliminate cleanly.

How it works

Add a watermark in three steps

All processing is instant and completely private. Your images are never shared or stored.

1

Upload your image

Drag any image onto the tool or click to browse. A preview of the image appears right away.

2

Customize your watermark

Type your watermark text, choose font size, color, opacity, and position. The preview updates live as you make changes.

3

Download watermarked image

When you are happy with the result, click Download. The image saves in the same format as the original.

Tips for effective image watermarking

Use semi-transparent text

An opacity of 30-50% makes the watermark visible without ruining the image aesthetics. Fully opaque watermarks look harsh and detract from the photo.

Position over important areas

Place the watermark over the subject of the photo rather than a blank background. A watermark over a corner of clear sky is trivial to crop away.

Use diagonal placement for full coverage

A diagonally placed watermark across the center of the image is the hardest to remove without damaging the photo content beneath it.

Include your website URL

A URL in the watermark helps viewers find your original work even if they see the image out of context. Keep it short and legible.

Keep originals without watermarks

Store the original, clean versions of all your images. Apply watermarks only to copies you share publicly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an image watermark instead of text?

This tool supports text watermarks. For image-based watermarks (like a logo), use a design tool such as Canva, GIMP, or Photoshop.

Will the watermark be easy to remove?

Text watermarks embedded in image pixels are not trivially removable, but image editing tools can attempt removal. Placing the watermark over the main subject makes removal much more difficult.

What is the output format?

The output uses the same format as your input image (JPEG stays JPEG, PNG stays PNG).

Is my image private and secure?

Your images are processed securely and stay private. They are never shared or stored anywhere.
